Master Nick Gracenin

Saturday, February 2, 2008

10:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.

Villa Maria Community Center

Qigong, touted by O Magazine as “the new yoga”, is an ancient Chinese method

of meditation and wellness. There are hundreds of styles of Qigong, from

somewhat vigorous movement training to seated and lying forms of meditation.

This workshop will introduce three forms of Qigong meditation:

*Fangsong gong for deep relaxation

*Guanqifa for boosting the immune system

*Qiantian gong or Embryonic breathing to return to

the abiding calm and security of the child in the womb.

An instructional DVD of these three forms will be available for purchase,

so participants can continue the practice at home.

Master Nick Gracenin has studied with many of the foremost Grandmasters in China and

North America and was named to Inside Kung-Fu magazine’s Hall of Fame as

Man of the Year in 2005.

Gracenin has taught on four continents and has been featured on the Today Show,

ESPN, ESPN2, NBC Nightly News and the New York Times Magazine.

1. Testing is a tool we use to motivate and reward students.
Developing good practice habits outside the Wushu class is at times
difficult. When a test is coming up, each student faces the reality that
he or she must show skills learned in regular training. The belt is the
symbol of accomplishment. We hope the student takes great pride in
personal success, not only in displaying the symbol of that success.

2.
The test day is a great opportunity for the family to support one
member’s activity. Make it a special occasion. Take photos, video, go
out for a treat afterwards - celebrate!

3.
Please be respectful of every student and their family. Share
“prime” spots for photos and videotaping. Keep noise to an absolute
minimum during the testing process. Cheer and/or applaud at
appropriate times in an appropriate manner. Encourage others who
are testing, especially those who may be having a rough time.

4.
Please be prompt. Wear your best class or performance uniform.

5.
Please pay testing fees in advance to avoid delays or
embarrassment during the event. Fees are $20-white, $25-yellow,
$30-orange, $35-blue, $50-green, $60-red, $75-brown and $100-each degree
of black belt. Many schools charge much more and double fees with
each level. Some schools have up to 14 ranks with mini-tests in between!
Our program is designed to aid the students and the school.

We hope you will join in to make testing an event that is positive and
supportive for everyone!
